Inaugural All-Australians honoured

Cockburn Gazette - - SPORT -

DESPITE a tough season, Fremantle Dockers women’s captain Kara Donnellan has been dubbed one of the best players in the league after she was named in the inaugural AFLW All-Australian team.

Donnellan played in all but one of the Dockers’ games, including a matchwinning 24-disposal, twogoal game against Carlton in round 6.

South Fremantle Football Club product Sabrina Fredrick-Traub, who had a dominant year at the Brisbane Lions, also made the team. AFL football operations general manager Simon Lethlean said selection in the inaugural team was a big honour.

“These players have all represented their clubs with distinction and have been integral to the success of AFL Women’s,” he said.

“To be named in the team indicates that these players have not only reached a level of excellence but managed to maintain consistency week-in-week out.

“The final team represents the best players of an incredible opening season and will be an achievement long cherished by the players selected.”
