Top title at steak for Coogee cafe
A NORTH Coogee bar’s steak sandwich is in the running to be crowned the State’s best.
Edz Sportz Bar general manager Peter Staiger said it was the same combination of Turkish bred, caramelised onion, cheese, marinated scotch fillet, egg, tomato, beetroot, lettuce and aioli that also saw the venue nominated in 2016.
The Cockburn Road hangout is one of 64 venues in the running for the Australian Hotels Association’s (AHA) Best Steak Sandwich Competition.
“I think our sandwich is pretty good but there’s pretty tough competition,” Mr Staiger said.
AHA WA chief executive chief executive Bradley Woods said the competition pushes pubs and restaurants to create something above what is expected of a steak sandwich.
“Now in its 10th year, competition is fierce and venues know that they have to be on top of their game if they are going to gain enough votes to become a finalist,” he said. People have until April 17 to vote for their favourite steak sandwich at www.hospitalitywa.com.
