Team into winning habit

THE Bal­divis White Knights Un­der-17 cricket team is get­ting used to the sweet taste of suc­cess af­ter their sec­ond premier­ship flag in a row.

The group also won the Un­der-15 com­pe­ti­tion last year in the Peel Ju­nior Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion. They were also the first side from the Peel re­gion to win the Com­mu­nity Ju­nior Cricket Coun­cil T20 com­pe­ti­tion last year.

The White Knights fin­ished the 2017 sea­son on top of the lad­der and con­tested the grand fi­nal with third-placed Halls Head on April 4.

Sent in to bat, Bal­divis started strongly with Wesley Steele un­beaten on 33, Mitchell Steele 32 and Ben Mer­ri­field 48 show­ing their class with the bat. SUP­PORTED BY LUX MO­TORS

Mitch Roh­land blasted a quick-fire 38 which in­clud­ing five fours and a six with the side mak­ing 6-198.

Halls Heads in­nings never re­ally got started los­ing wick­ets on a con­sis­tent ba­sis thanks to some im­pres­sive bowl­ing from Bal­divis.

Open­ing bowler and cap­tain Con­nor Rus­sell led the way, tak­ing 3-16 with Halls Head fin­ish­ing 10-122.
