HOGs in the pink for annual charity ride

Cockburn Gazette - - OPINION -

IF by chance you see 300 bikers on the roads looking pretty in pink on October 29, don’t be alarmed; it is for a good cause.

The Swan River Chapter of the Harley Owner’s Group (HOG) are gearing up to participate in the annual Gerda’s Pink Ribbon Ride.

The ride is named after former member Gerda Dunkel, who raised money for breast cancer before she passed away.

Since it began in 2011, they have raised over $50, 000 for the Cancer Council and have been the biggest sole donor to the Pink Ribbon Appeal in WA over the last two years.

Swan River Chapter of the HOG director Andrew Sloan said the ride’s highlight was through Fremantle’s cappuccino strip.

The ride leaves from Perth Heat Ballpark in Thornlie at 10am and finishes at Roleystone Country Club at 12pm, where there will be live music, a raffle and a sausage sizzle.
