Perfect score for Fremantle
FREMANTLE Districts went two from two in their important WA Premier Cricket one-day double header on the weekend.
They kicked it off with a home game against Scarborough on Saturday, the latter winning the toss and electing to bat first.
Despite three wickets to Fremantle’s Zach Ferris, an innings high 86 runs from Nicholas Maiolo helped steer Scarborough to a strong 6-240 at the end of their 50 overs.
It was a total Fremantle battled hard to chase down and another fine batting display from opener Daniel Kennedy, who smacked 87 runs before being caught, helped the team chase down the total with just 21 balls remaining.
They backed it up the next day with an away match against University, again losing the toss and being sent into the field.
Benjamin Moore and Jarryd McPhee helped themselves to three wickets a piece as Fremantle bowled their opponents out for 201 runs in 48.4 overs.
A century from opener Jake Carder, ably supported by Matthew Micale with 67, helped Fremantle chase down the total in the 49ths over for the loss of just five wickets.
Fremantle sit fourth on the one-day ladder after winning three of their four games. The two-day action begins this weekend with Fremantle taking on Perth at Fletcher Park from 11.40am on October 28.
Jake Carder salutes for his century.
