Great team bat effort

Cockburn Gazette - - SPORT -

GOSNELLS has had a strong start in their twoday match against Fremantle, pushing their runs tally past 300 for the first time this season.

The decision to win the toss and bat first paid dividends for Gosnells who, despite losing opener Ben Green early, rallied to 3175.

A few quick wickets ensued but strong battling from almost the entire line-up, including a 117-run century from Jonathon Crowe, helped Gosnells to 307.

Fremantle’s Ross Macauley did most of the damage with the ball taking four wickets, while Zach Ferris and Timothy Miles took two a piece.

There was just enough time in the day for Gosnells to squeeze in two overs in the field, which again proved fortuitous, as Chris Prescott struck in the first over to remove Macauley for a four-ball duck.

Gosnells will be pushing to close out just their second win of the season when the match continues at Stevens Reserve this Saturday from 11.40am.
