Support for family of crashed drag racer
GOFUNDME PAGE SET UP
THE Australian drag racing fraternity has come together to help the family of eight-yearold Anita Board who was killed after suffering fatal injuries during a licencing pass at Perth Motorplex last weekend.
A Victorian mother who wished to remain anonymous set up a GoFundMe page two days ago seeking to raise $5000 to help the Aubin Grove family and has surpassed her goal currently sitting at $5555.
The woman whose family is also involved in drag racing encouraged people to help the family during the difficult time. “We have sadly lost a young life,” she said. “Let’s lend a helping hand to the Board family in these hard and sad times. Let’s dig deep in support of the Board Family for their angel Anita; every dollar will count.”
Forrestfield’s Big Tz Diner who pride themselves on being supporters of all types of motorsport events were dedicating a Pony Power Milkshake in Anita’s honour with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to the family.
Condolences to the family have been coming from around the country with The Australian National Drag Racing Association and Perth Motorplex extending their deepest condolences to Anita’s family, friends and the wider drag racing community.
Junior competition drag racing at Perth Motorplex has been suspended until the completion of an investigation into the November 11 accident.
The accident is under police investigation with the assistance of motorsport sanctioning body, Australian National Drag Racing Association.
Junior age categories for drag racing are set by the Association.
Perth Motorplex is the only facility in Western Australia where drag racing is held.
