Sup­port for fam­ily of crashed drag racer

THE Aus­tralian drag rac­ing fra­ter­nity has come to­gether to help the fam­ily of eight-yearold Anita Board who was killed af­ter suf­fer­ing fa­tal in­juries dur­ing a li­cenc­ing pass at Perth Mo­tor­plex last week­end.

A Vic­to­rian mother who wished to re­main anonymous set up a GoFundMe page two days ago seek­ing to raise $5000 to help the Aubin Grove fam­ily and has sur­passed her goal cur­rently sit­ting at $5555.

The woman whose fam­ily is also in­volved in drag rac­ing en­cour­aged peo­ple to help the fam­ily dur­ing the dif­fi­cult time. “We have sadly lost a young life,” she said. “Let’s lend a help­ing hand to the Board fam­ily in these hard and sad times. Let’s dig deep in sup­port of the Board Fam­ily for their an­gel Anita; ev­ery dol­lar will count.”

For­rest­field’s Big Tz Diner who pride them­selves on be­ing sup­port­ers of all types of mo­tor­sport events were ded­i­cat­ing a Pony Power Milk­shake in Anita’s hon­our with 100 per cent of the pro­ceeds go­ing to the fam­ily.

Con­do­lences to the fam­ily have been com­ing from around the coun­try with The Aus­tralian Na­tional Drag Rac­ing As­so­ci­a­tion and Perth Mo­tor­plex ex­tend­ing their deep­est con­do­lences to Anita’s fam­ily, friends and the wider drag rac­ing com­mu­nity.

Ju­nior com­pe­ti­tion drag rac­ing at Perth Mo­tor­plex has been sus­pended un­til the com­ple­tion of an in­ves­ti­ga­tion into the Novem­ber 11 ac­ci­dent.

The ac­ci­dent is un­der po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tion with the as­sis­tance of mo­tor­sport sanc­tion­ing body, Aus­tralian Na­tional Drag Rac­ing As­so­ci­a­tion.

Ju­nior age cat­e­gories for drag rac­ing are set by the As­so­ci­a­tion.

Perth Mo­tor­plex is the only fa­cil­ity in West­ern Aus­tralia where drag rac­ing is held.
