RUNWAY CLEAR FOR SWIM SERIES

Cockburn Gazette - - LIFESTYLE - Belinda Cipriano

THIS summer’s Fashion Council WA (FCWA) and Perth Fashion Festival’s (PFF) Swim and Resort Series is set to be bigger and better following the announcement of funding support from the State Government.

The funding, provided by the Burswood Park Trust and administered by Tourism WA, is expected to make this year’s premium ticketed runway events world- class.

For the first time both events – PFF’s Fashion Paramount and Swim and Resort Series – will be held on the Burswood Peninsula.

FCWA creative director Mariella Harvey Hanrahan said they were both thrilled and appreciative of the funding and saw it as a vote of confidence in the fashion industry’s ability to create local jobs while also projecting a positive image of WA.

“We will make sure we deliver on this,” she said.

“We’re excited to promote the state’s emerging and established fashion talent, in addition to showing off some of the Peninsula’s new and exciting developments to the world.

“These ticketed runway events are anticipated to attract 10,000 people to the area and present the opportunity for WA to become a renowned fashion and cultural tourism destination.

“We’re keen to work closely with the State Government and other industries in the years ahead to both improve our current events and create new and innovative ones.

“With Fashion Council WA’s existing international partnerships and long-term strategy to work collaboratively with WA’s hospitality, food, wine, music and arts industries, FCWA will promote WA as an attractive destination for key markets such as China, Indonesia and Singapore.”

Last year designers included Manning Cartell and kaftan queen Camilla.

Last year’s “fashion moment” at the Fashion Council WA’s Swim and Resort Series media launch at The Shorehouse.
