Pride of Lions helps heroes
AN entourage of superheroes on motorised scooters rolled into Woodman Point this month on their journey to fight children’s cancer.
The Superkids Superheroes is an annual 10day scooter ride from Bridgetown to the Perth’s Children Hospital to fundraise for The Kids Cancer Project.
Now in its third year, the event was created for Bridgetown eight-yearold Declan Kane, who lost his battle with neuroblastoma last year.
The Lions Club of Jandakot Lakes replenished the superheroes with dinner and breakfast at Woodman Point Discovery Park before they set off for the last leg of their journey to Perth Children’s Hospital.
Club secretary Stephen Berry said they were happy to help out the cause in a small way.
“Club members were grateful for being able to contribute by providing meals for the fundraisers of such a worthwhile cause,” he said.
“We are volunteers and enjoy fundraising, but it is when we can be involved in some small way in this type of project that we really appreciate how well off we are.”
