Amanda’s Garden weekend fundraiser
A MEMORIAL garden dedicated to a local teenager who died from meningococcal will open its doors to the public for a two-day fete.
Amanda Young was just 18 when she contracted meningococcal after a 1997 rowing regatta in Penrith and died shortly after.
Her parents Barry and Lorraine started the Amanda Young Foundation in her honour, with Amanda’s Garden established in 1998 and the garden fete in 2000.
As well as visitors being able to relax in and enjoy the garden, the fete will also include a range of plants and seedlings for sale, jams, sauces and fresh honey, stalls, food and drink and music from the Gosnells Men’s Shed on Sunday.
Amanda’s Garden Fete will be held on the corner of Margaret Street and Matison Street, Southern River, from 10am to 4.30pm on October 27 and 28. Entry is $5 for adults and free for children.
