Give gift of dignity

Cockburn Gazette - - NEWS -

LOCALS are encouraged to donate a backpack or handbag filled with sanitary products and toiletries to help a woman in need this Christmas.

Share the Dignity’s It’s in the Bag appeal aims to provide bags of items such as sanitary products, shampoo and conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap and deodorant to women and teenagers experiencing homelessness or domestic violence.

Bunnings Harrisdale complex manager Julian Page said they were looking to help as many women as they could this year.

“The team is really excited to be involved with the appeal for the second year running,” he said.

“This year we’re striving to collect 120,000 bags.

“Unfortunately, there are many vulnerable women and teens across WA who do not have access to basic sanitary products.

“By setting up easily accessible collection points for the donation bags, we hope we can encourage many locals to come together and support other women in need.”

Share the Dignity founder Rochelle Courtenay said donating a bag full of hygienic essentials was a “small but extremely impactful gesture” that locals could take part in.

Bags can be dropped off at any Bunnings store, including O’Connor, Bibra Lake, Cockburn Central and Harrisdale, until December 2.
