Fremantle moves up
FREMANTLE has recorded a comprehensive win over Mt Lawley in round 7 of the WA Premier Cricket competition.
Fremantle had the ascendancy at the end of day one’s play after batting their way to a four-run lead before declaring and reducing Mt Lawley to 4-48 in the second innings at the end of day’s play.
Another batting collapse from Mt Lawley, where no batsman reached 20 runs, had the visitors limp to 108 and a small total of 104 to defend.
Tim Miles took three wickets for Fremantle in the second innings, while Zach Ferris and Thomas Abell took two apiece.
Fremantle made light work of the chase, with a 63 not out to opener Jake Carder helping to ensure they remain undefeated in the two-day format.
The win catapulted Fremantle to second place on the ladder after seven games, one point behind leaders Rockingham-Mandurah.
They next take on 13th placed South Perth at Richardson Park on December 1 and 8.
In the South Metropolitan Cricket Association competition, East Fremantle was the only one of the four local teams to record a win in round 5.
