THE suburb of Success is living up to its name, with five division 1 lottery wins in 2018.

Cockburn Gateway Lottery Centre was in party mode again earlier this month after another winning ticket was sold, this time netting the buyer more than $439,000.

It was the second division 1 win this year for the Cockburn Gateway Lottery Centre, which is now just one win behind Gateways News and Lottery Centre with three.

The ticketholder, a father of three from Gosnells, said he made the trip to Success after hearing about the suburb’s luck.

“My wife wasn’t too keen on the idea, saying I was a bit mad to believe in these things,” he said.

“In fact, the first week she refused, but the following week I convinced her to take a chance.”

He said things almost went belly-up when they got to Cockburn Gateway Shopping City and realised they weren’t sure which of the two lottery centres was the luckiest one.

“I remembered one had three wins and the other had one win, but it was a bit confusing which was which,” the man said.

“So I bought a ticket from each, which really got my wife going.

“But now that it’s turned out the way it did, we can’t stop laughing about it.”

He said the money would be used to buy the family their own home after renting for the past 20 years.

Another winning division 1 ticket from the same draw was purchased from Forrest News in Hamilton Hill.

The Hamilton Hill man who claimed the winning ticket said it was great to prove his friends wrong.

“Every week I’d buy a ticket, making sure my favourite numbers 2 and 5 were somewhere in each,” he said.

“My mates would always tease me for playing, saying I’m only dreaming.

“Look who’s laughing now.”
