Learn language of Latin music

Cockburn Gazette - - NEWS -

PERTH band Imperio Latin Sound is bringing the sound of Latin American music to Fremantle.

The band, which was formed in 2014, will be performing at the Tropical Latin Fiesta.

Band leader Johnny Castro said they played mainly Latin music.

“Latin music has a variety of different genres, styles and rhythms; for example, salsa, merengue, cumbia, bachata and reggaeton,” he said.

“Imperio Latin Sound likes to combine all these different sounds and rhythms for both the Spanish-speaking audience and the English-speaking audience, making us the only Latin band in Perth to combine both languages to one sound.”

Castro said they were excited to perform at the festival.

“It will give us an opportunity to show people not only our music but our unique mixture of sounds and rhythms,” he said.

“It will also give us the opportunity to engage not just with the Latino audience but with non-Spanish speaking people.”
