FOX ADAPTED FROM THE BOOK BY MARGARET WILD & RON BROOKS After a terrible bushfire, an injured magpie and dog form an unexpected friendship, sharing a deep bond, until into their midst a fox arrives. This thrilling fusion of puppetry and dance will take the audience on a journey through scorched scrubland and ochre deserts where friendships will be tested and the true meaning of loyalty and companionship will be discovered. NEW WORKS: NEW FACES 15 A new exhibition showcasing the work of recent art school graduates from ECU and Curtin University. Started in 2000 by Norah Ohrt of Perth Galleries and joined by Gallery East in 2007, New Works: New Faces returns after a six-year gap to mark its fifteenth manifestation. The concept of the exhibition is to give graduate artists an opportunity to exhibit their work as a stepping stone by exposing their works to collectors, curators and other commercial galleries. BIRDLIFE WALK BirdLife WA has a morning walk at Little Rush Lake, Samuel Caporn Reserve Yangebup. There is a path around the lake, which provides an opportunity to see plenty of waterbirds and bushbirds. Over 90 species of birds have been seen here. The walk is open to all and beginners are most welcome; introduce yourself to the leaders, Jenny and Lynley, and don’t hesitate to ask for help identifying the birds seen. Bring morning tea and a chair for a chat and bird roll call after the walk. DETAILS: July 9 at 8am. Meet near the playground on Grassbird Loop at the western side of this small wooded lake. Little Rush Lake is part of the Beeliar Regional Park. Turn off North Lake Road into Osprey Drive, right into Dotterel Way, then right into Grassbird Loop.
LIVE CONCERT New Zealand music legends Salmonella Dub have a new album on the horizon. Showcasing the first bundle of new album tunes, Salmonella Dub Sound System will perform three dates in WA in July, including the Newport Hotel in Fremantle. Salmonella Dub have long been considered pioneers of their Pacific style of dub/drum ‘n’ bass/reggae/hip hop and groove-based rock.
