FOX ADAPTED FROM THE BOOK BY MAR­GARET WILD & RON BROOKS Af­ter a ter­ri­ble bush­fire, an in­jured mag­pie and dog form an un­ex­pected friend­ship, shar­ing a deep bond, un­til into their midst a fox ar­rives. This thrilling fu­sion of pup­petry and dance will take the au­di­ence on a jour­ney through scorched scrub­land and ochre deserts where friend­ships will be tested and the true mean­ing of loy­alty and com­pan­ion­ship will be dis­cov­ered. NEW WORKS: NEW FACES 15 A new ex­hi­bi­tion show­cas­ing the work of re­cent art school grad­u­ates from ECU and Curtin Univer­sity. Started in 2000 by No­rah Ohrt of Perth Gal­leries and joined by Gallery East in 2007, New Works: New Faces returns af­ter a six-year gap to mark its fif­teenth man­i­fes­ta­tion. The con­cept of the ex­hi­bi­tion is to give grad­u­ate artists an op­por­tu­nity to ex­hibit their work as a step­ping stone by ex­pos­ing their works to col­lec­tors, cu­ra­tors and other com­mer­cial gal­leries. BIRDLIFE WALK BirdLife WA has a morn­ing walk at Lit­tle Rush Lake, Sa­muel Ca­porn Reserve Yange­bup. There is a path around the lake, which pro­vides an op­por­tu­nity to see plenty of wa­ter­birds and bush­birds. Over 90 species of birds have been seen here. The walk is open to all and begin­ners are most welcome; in­tro­duce your­self to the lead­ers, Jenny and Lyn­ley, and don’t hes­i­tate to ask for help iden­ti­fy­ing the birds seen. Bring morn­ing tea and a chair for a chat and bird roll call af­ter the walk. DE­TAILS: July 9 at 8am. Meet near the play­ground on Grass­bird Loop at the western side of this small wooded lake. Lit­tle Rush Lake is part of the Beel­iar Re­gional Park. Turn off North Lake Road into Osprey Drive, right into Dot­terel Way, then right into Grass­bird Loop.

LIVE CON­CERT New Zealand music leg­ends Sal­monella Dub have a new al­bum on the hori­zon. Show­cas­ing the first bun­dle of new al­bum tunes, Sal­monella Dub Sound Sys­tem will per­form three dates in WA in July, in­clud­ing the New­port Ho­tel in Fre­man­tle. Sal­monella Dub have long been con­sid­ered pi­o­neers of their Pa­cific style of dub/drum ‘n’ bass/reg­gae/hip hop and groove-based rock.
