Toy­ing with ed­u­ca­tion

COCK­BURN Toy Li­brary has se­cured much-needed fund­ing to sup­ply its mem­bers with Stem (sci­ence, tech­nol­ogy, engi­neer­ing, maths) fo­cused equip­ment.

The li­brary re­ceived a $1000 grant to bol­ster stocks with some new ed­u­ca­tional toys for its preschool-aged mem­bers.

Pres­i­dent Re­nae Barker said the money would be put to­wards Stem-re­lated toys to en­able chil­dren to si­mul­ta­ne­ously learn and play.

“Many chil­dren are be­ing ex­posed to cod­ing toys at school but their fam­i­lies sim­ply can’t af­ford the cod­ing ma­te­ri­als at home, so they can con­tinue that learn­ing in the home en­vi­ron­ment,” she said.

The fund­ing was awarded as part of Stock­land CARE Grants pro­gram and cho­sen by Cal­leya’s As­pire by Stock­land com­mu­nity in Treeby. Suc­cess Blaz­ers Net­ball Club, Jan­dakot Jets Ju­nior Foot­ball Club, Ham­mond Park Catholic Pri­mary School Par­ents and Friends As­so­ci­a­tion, Beel­iar Com­mu­nity Voice and Treeby Com­mu­nity As­so­ci­a­tion also re­ceived fund­ing.
