Toying with education
COCKBURN Toy Library has secured much-needed funding to supply its members with Stem (science, technology, engineering, maths) focused equipment.
The library received a $1000 grant to bolster stocks with some new educational toys for its preschool-aged members.
President Renae Barker said the money would be put towards Stem-related toys to enable children to simultaneously learn and play.
“Many children are being exposed to coding toys at school but their families simply can’t afford the coding materials at home, so they can continue that learning in the home environment,” she said.
The funding was awarded as part of Stockland CARE Grants program and chosen by Calleya’s Aspire by Stockland community in Treeby. Success Blazers Netball Club, Jandakot Jets Junior Football Club, Hammond Park Catholic Primary School Parents and Friends Association, Beeliar Community Voice and Treeby Community Association also received funding.
