THE quickest production Mini ever will soon be in Australian showrooms, with the JCW Clubman arriving this year.
Mini engineers have tweaked the 2.0-litre fourcylinder turbo petrol engine, to now offer 225kW – a hefty 55kW more than before – and 450Nm of torque.
The changes help the JCW Clubman break the five-second 0-100km/h barrier, doing the dash in 4.9 seconds. The updated engine has also been added to the bigger JCW Countryman, which is a tad slower to 100km/h at 5.1sec.
A new shift-by-wire eight-speed automatic transmission delivers slicker shifts and also allows for launch control.
There are two JCW Clubman variants, starting with the Pure from $57,900.
Standard gear includes an 8.8-inch display, black 18-inch John Cooper Works light alloy wheels, adaptive suspension, Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres, Dinamica and leather JCW sports, seats and more.
For an extra $5000, the top-spec version adds 19inch wheels, sports suspension, head up display, 12speaker Harman Kardon audio system, heated electric front seats and more.
The JCW Countryman gets the same level of spec and costs $65,900.
