Hannah the accidental beauty
SHE may be about to represent Australia on the world stage, but Hannah Cavanagh’s pageantry debut came about by accident.
Having been named Miss Teen Galaxy Australia 2018, the Gosnells teenager will travel to Florida in July to represent the country at the Galaxy International Pageant.
However, Hannah admitted her introduction to the pageantry world was completely accidental.
“With my first-ever pageant, I didn’t realise it was a pageant, I just thought it was a modelling event,” she said.
“When I researched it and realised (what it was), I’d already applied and had the letter saying I’d been accepted.”
The 16-year-old said she soon fell in love with pageants, but could not believe it had given her the chance to represent her country.
“It was very surreal because I’ve never won such a prestigious title that leads to international competition,” she said.
“It feels incredible. I’ve never represented Australia so it’s really exciting and I’m a bit nervous, but also excited and hopefully I’ll do Australia proud.”
Contestants at the Galaxy International Pageant are judged on their performances in five different categories (photogenic, swimwear, evening gown, fashion wear and interview).
Hannah said she was hoping for a strong performance in the last category.
“In Florida, the interview is weighted more for judging; they want to get to know who we are as people,” she said.
