Back to earth with a thud
AFTER the fairytale win on June 4 that sent them to the FFA Cup round of 32, Armadale was brought back to earth with a hard 4-0 loss at the hands of Perth SC on Saturday.
Armadale started strongest of the two teams but were denied goals due to some good keeping from Perth’s Francis Soale.
Perth hit the scoreboard in the 24th minute with a goal to Paul Zimarino but the rest of the match was an arm wrestle as both sides lacked finish in their forward halves.
It was in the last few minutes of the match where Perth went on a scoring frenzy after Armadale were reduced to nine men on the back of red cards to Charlie Kenna (79th minute) and Billy Quinncroft (90th).
Matt Milenkovic started the late onslaught with a goal in the 82nd minute before Harley Orr scored a penalty in the first minute of extra time.
Milenkovic again scored in the third minute of extra time to get his brace and the big 4-0 win for Perth.
The loss saw Armadale slip from eighth to ninth on the NPLWA ladder after 16 rounds.
Armadale next take on the eighth-placed Stirling Lions from 3pm June 16 at Alfred Skeet Reserve.
