Jim Wheeler talks about balancing the amount of time you have with the detail in each frame

Working with time-consuming, hand-drawn character animation to a tight deadline, we tried to minimise the amount of movement in the secondary characters. This also works well to focus your attention on the main character. It was a slight creative challenge finding a neat balance for the personality traits of the main character.
