MAKE GOOD THINGS by Fx Goby www.fxgoby.com

French filmmaker Fx Goby opened the annual Google I/O conference with a charming animation illustrating the limitless power of a community working together. “We decided to use the metaphor of a pixel,” recalls Goby, who’s a director at Nexus Studios. “A pixel on its own can only do so much, but millions of pixels can create almost anything. Their power is in their ability to make things together.”

Inspired by the topic, Goby invited Nexus director Jack Cunningham, James Castillo Murphy and art director Melanie Climent to help. “Making it in seven weeks in 6K with over 1,600 handanimated characters and millions in crowd simulation was challenging,” he says. “Everyone worked incredibly hard to make it happen in the given timeline. I’m really proud of what they achieved in creating such a complex world with such simplicity and elegance.”
