B&B Stu­dio has cre­ated a vi­brant iden­tity for Fix8: a kom­bucha (fer­mented tea) brand that works around the idea of be­ing ad­dicted to some­thing in a pos­i­tive way. “When we started look­ing at the kom­bucha cat­e­gory it was clear that it had failed to find a unique de­sign lan­guage,” strat­egy di­rec­tor Lisa Des­forges ex­plains. “Brands were ref­er­enc­ing other cat­e­gories to try and ex­plain kom­bucha, but only ended up mak­ing vague com­par­isons.”

The stu­dio used the idea of ‘pos­i­tive ad­dic­tion’ to cre­ate a de­sign that cap­tures the kom­bucha ex­pe­ri­ence by ref­er­enc­ing the buzz it brings.

“It’s a vis­ual lan­guage that ex­presses what kom­bucha is about without feel­ing func­tional or de­scrip­tive in a clunky way,” says Des­forges.
