was saddened to hear of the death of Keith Emerson, one of the greatest rock keyboard players of all time. His theatrical live performanc­es were an inspiratio­n to many, and you just had to admire his bravery for using mighty but unreliable modular setups on stage.

FAREWELL FIFTH BEATLE

We shared the sadness at George Martin’s passing, but it did at least give us a chance to celebrate the Beatles producer’s remarkable feats. He achieved more with primitive technology than most of us do with our modern DAWs.

Hearing loss is a worry for anyone who listens to music at high volumes, and the news that AC/DC singer Brian Johnson has been advised to stop touring to avoid complete deafness is a reminder that it’s a serious issue. Make sure you use protection, people.
