Hard work on risers

“Build-ups take me way longer than they should. They sound like they take about a minute, but they take me ages,” Robbie confesses. “A lot of the time I’ll try like adding a hundred things that are playing the same rhythm, and that’s often where I get stuck. The key for me is to have stuff playing different rhythms, and for this track in particular it was important to find the balance between all sorts of things. There are two riser noises: one that Niko sent me, and the other one is one I made in Serum which is similar but adds a different texture. A lot of my processing is very similar on all these sounds – a lot of Valhalla reverb which I think sounds great; a lot of OTT, probably more than I should… but if it sounds cool, it sounds cool!”
