More Serum power tips

Click the Filter's Mix label to switch it to Level mode. This control is no longer a wet/dry balance – instead, it now controls the filter's final output level, so you can regain your signal after filtering and drive. The Noise oscillator section doesn't feature a Fine tune control – instead, you'll find this in the top-right Oscillator Settings section of the Global tab. When choosing LFO presets, Alt-click the little folder icon to scan through them. Shift-Alt-click to go back through the presets. Drag-and-drop is the easiest way to hook up modulation in Serum, but some ‘hidden' mod sources (such as four NoteOn options and the Chaos oscillators) and destinations (like Master Tune) are only available via right-click or the Matrix. Need to trigger a MIDI note hands-free? Shift-Alt-click on one of Serum's bottom piano keys to hold that note. Use Serum's Global >> Unison section to precisely customise the semitone Range, Width, Warp, WT Pos, Stack and mode of the two oscillators' unison voices independently. Right-click a module (say, the Filter's header bar) or parameter (eg, filter Cutoff) and select the Lock option from the menu. Now, when you change presets, locked sections won't be changed. In the Mod Matrix tab, pop open the topright arrow to reorder the Matrix list by Source or Destination. You can also lock the entire Matrix here, as per the previous tip. When modulating pitch, double-click the Amount slider in the Matrix and type a semitone value, eg, 12st. This will lock your pitch modulation to a musical range. Use an LFO to do this, then type two values in its Grid box (eg, 8,12) to set vertical and horizontal grid sizes. Alt-Shift-click and drag in the LFO to draw steps locked to the grid. Voilà – the LFO is now an arpeggiator!
