Rudeboy features a rapped vocal by Gardna and a chorus by GDC’s Jonathan Scratchley. “We recorded Johnny’s chorus vocals at my studio,” Brad says, “using a Neumann TLM 103 into a Focusrite ISA 430 Producer Pack. A nice, transparent kind of sound.”

“1176?” asks Toby, referring to the UAD Urei emulation plugin Brad uses on many of his sounds.

“Yeah. It’s all the Legacy stuff in this session,” Brad replies, “so it must have been before I bought the new stuff. I used MicroShift on his vocal, just to widen it a bit, Valhalla VintageVerb and EchoBoy… a de-esser… [Waves] RVox… the gate and a bit of compression, as my first compressor on the vocal channel. And then a tiny bit of UAD Auto-Tune.”

The Focusrite ISA 430 MkII was used on GDC Jonathan’s vocals
