Noiiz is Samplephonics’ monthly subscription service, offering a substantial amount of content (samples, synth presets and even their own multisampled instruments) on tap. Soundware is browsed and auditioned via web or the free Noiiz Plugin (PC/ Mac, VST/AU/AAX), which works well – synced playback and pitchadjustment alongside search tools and suggestions make light work of finding sounds and getting them into your DAW. And most importantly, the sounds offered by Noiiz are excellent, both in terms of sound quality and variety.
> Search function is comprehensive, and makes it easy to find sounds quickly. > The Find Similar Sound feature lets you audition through related suggestions, while Feature Filters helps you hunt down the sound in your head – eg, ‘short kick’ or ‘bright hi-hat’. > The Noiiz Plugin (VST/AU/AAX) lets you keylock, transpose and warp samples when auditioning, and these changes are kept when you drag and drop to your DAW. > Noiiz Player (VST/AU/AAX) gives you a handful of lightweight multisampled instruments. > The sample charts are cool – you can see the sounds that your fellow Noiiz users are using. > We love that you can store and access your own samples online via the Noiiz plugin.
> While the sound selection is varied and of a high standard, there’s a lack of material from well-known artists – worth bearing in mind if you want samples from big names. > We found that the Noiiz Plugin took quite a while to load the first sound after opening, but worked fine after that. > Synth presets are only available via the website – it’d be game-changing if, for example, you could drag in a synth preset and have the Noiiz Plugin load it into a fresh instance of that synth within your DAW.
