Web www.mathieudemange.fr Format PC/Mac/iOS, VST/AU/AAX, Reason RE The first effect plugin from Demange is an emulation of the entire AD/DA conversion path of the eternally revered Akai S950 sampler, from input to output. Apparently, he spent more than a year studying the hardware, and the results speak for themselves, as RX950 brings all the crunch and vibe of Akai’s historic box to the DAW via a handsome interface. The effect makes its presence felt immediately upon loading, crushing the input signal down to 12-bit. Raising the Input Gain knob overdrives the analogue input circuit for that awesome S950 saturation; the Audio Bandwidth knob governs the sample rate, sweeping from 3-19.2kHz, with adjustable high-frequency response via the Brilliance knob. That’s your boom-bap hip-hop beats sorted, then, but you also get a stonking take on the 950’s fabulous 12dB low-pass Butterworth filter. RX950 also includes a Mono switch and four GUI scaling options (up to 250%), and is even NKS-compatible for users of NI Maschine and Komplete Kontrol. It sounds absolutely wicked on drums, synths and even the mix bus, and at this price, it’s highly recommended. n10/ 10n
