Chord development in the second drop
When the second drop happens, the harmonic structure of the track steps up a gear, Ian explains: “The chords just develop slightly, with an extra passing chord. These piano chords take over from the string chords in the intro. And we’ve got the Moog here, following the chords’ root notes…”
Tom adds: “With not a lot of low end in it, because you don’t really want to be stacking too many frequencies on top of each other, after all.
“The sub pattern’s a little more on the syncopated side, in order to give it the groove with the drums. And that punch sub is helping it cut through a bit more.”
