Dubby processed guitar

Ian recalls how the striking dub-style sound in the intro transition came to be. “We’ve done another effect here, which started off as a guitar – we probably recorded something that we didn’t end up using in a track. We stuck a load of plugins on that – we’ve got some compression, a bit of panning, Soundtoys Primal Tap, two EchoBoys… That spaces it out, and gives it a dubby effect.

“And then just a bit of EQ to take off the top end. That’s sent to the Altiverb reverb that we use a lot, which has loads of impulse responses and emulations of old reverb units. We’ve sent that to a just-over-two-second plate for space. We reversed that and put more delay on it for a bit of a tail.”
