The sequel to 2011’s wellreceived Spaces convolution reverb adds plenty of new sampled locations, and expands on the single venue (SoCal Hall) for its instrumentspecific presets with five more, broadening the scope for realistic orchestral positioning. The 1020 presets are navigated in a hierarchical browser, drilling down from a range of main categories including Concert Halls, Churches, Forests etc, through subcategories (specific concert halls, etc), through regular stereo and true stereo groups, to end up at various microphone configurations/positions and tail lengths.

Spaces II is still very much a preset-driven plugin (VST/AU/ AAX), but the addition of decay time scaling (0-100%) to the short list of editable parameters – the existing ones being predelay (up to 1000ms), and high- and low-pass filters – is a pretty big deal, greatly upping the flexibility of the effect by enabling temporal customisation of its huge diversity of rooms, halls and environments.

A solid update to one of the tastiest convolution reverbs around, with the upgrade from v1 landing at $199.
