Hot on the heels of the release of FL Studio 20 for PC and – at long last! – Mac, developers Image-Line have teamed up with hardware manufacturers Akai Professional to create the Akai Fire: a dedicated MIDI controller for FL Studio. The Fire centres on a 4x16 grid of velocity-sensitive RGB pads for live note input and step sequencing, and four touch-sensitive rotary encoders for mixing and plugin control. Dedicated transport and other FL-specific buttons are also onboard, and up to four units can be connected for an 8x32 grid. FL Studio Fire Edition is included, too, giving non-owners a cut-down version of the DAW to get started with. The Akai Fire costs $199.

FL Studio users now have their own dedicated MIDI controller in the form of the Akai Professional Fire
