Interplay of audio, MIDI, clips and instruments
Bitwig Studio provides a lot of flexibility, with various means by which to compose and arrange tracks. Like many DAWs, it offers a combination of MIDI and audio tracks, supporting both audio and MIDI loops or clips. These can be interchanged, allowing you to treat any audio or MIDI region you record as a clip to be used in the Mixer, or arranged in a project’s Scenes. Audio and MIDI clips can be dragged into any Device that supports samples for further tweaking and triggering from a MIDI controller or Bitwig’s own internal sequencer. You can then drag the results into something else, creating an endlessly recursive creative loop, should you desire. Each trip to and from the Arrange page offers more opportunities for processing, automation and more. Obviously, this allows for wildly inventive mixing and matching of audio, MIDI, instruments and arrangements. Bitwig Studio 8-Track may limit the number of tracks you can use, but provides virtually unlimited ways to use what’s in them.
