5. Making the bitcrusher control

-

1 “Unlock the patch. One of the great things about Max is that you can copy and paste stuff, so you can easily configure the second slider. So, we can copy and paste our Ratio dial and use the new one to control the bit depth. This dial is going to be our resolution in bits, so we have to configure it a little bit differently.” 2 “Select the dial, go to Inspector and set the Short and Long Names to ‘ Resolution’, and the Type to Int. We want the Range to make sense for music production, so while we could set the minimum to 1, that would let you take your bit depth down to 1-bit – nasty and very loud. So we’re going to go from 2 to 24.” 3 “The other parameters we need to configure for this are going to be very similar to those we’ve seen before. We want to set our Unit Style to Int to allow the interface to show whole numbers. Then, finally, configure Initial Enable to launch the device with the resolution set to 24.”
