If you don’t have enough digital distortion plugins already, the latest from Klevgrand is a resampler and bitcrusher (VST/AU/ AAX) built to bring the sound of vintage sampling gear to your DAW.

The all-important Sample Rate and Bit Depth parameters range from 20Hz to 96kHz and 3 to 24-bit, while Pre- and PostFilters can be set to low-pass or resonant low-pass types, with cutoff frequencies equalling half the Sample Rate. The Jitter knob randomly fluctuates the sample rate around its set value for movement and ‘smear’, and Saturation boosts the amount of distortion applied, as visualised in the display. The Link buttons between the knobs enable particular combos of them to be tied together – good for multi-parameter sweeps.

It’s easy to use and sounds fantastic, with the continuous Sample Rate and Bit Depth controls delivering smooth transitions, and the filters adding an effective extra layer of tonal control. It doesn’t bring much new to the digital distortion party, though, so it’s not an essential purchase.
