NI’s “vintage synth-soaked” expansion emulates the sound of early 80s funk, R&B and disco – think Cameo (one Project is titled Back and Forth!) and Rick James, with tinges of Parliament, Trouble Funk et al. You get 59 Battery Kits, 15 multisampled instruments, 422 drum samples, 353 one-shots and 58 Massive presets, and the sampled instrumentation centres on classic drum machines and synths, but also includes electric bass, guitars, horns, Rhodes, strings, etc. Midnight Sunset nails its target style, but we’re not completely feeling the contemporary relevance. native-instruments.com
