A radically empowering new module for the free and open-source VCV Rack modular synth, VCV Host enables external plugins to be worked into your VCV Rack patches. It actually comprises two modules: Host and Host-FX, the first for loading instruments (generating monophonic MIDI note data via its 1V/oct pitch CV and gate inputs), the second for effects. Both modules also include stereo audio outputs and 16 parameter inputs. Unlike VCV Rack itself, VCV Host is a premium offering, priced $30. It’s out now.
