AdHd Audio Tools rather cagily sum it up as “a tube leveling amplifier inspired by the legends and carefully crafted to meet your compression needs”, but it’s clear that their handsome gratis plugin is mimicking the legendary Teletronix LA-2A Limiting Amplifier.

Like its source hardware, the action centres on the Gain and Peak Reduction controls, but Leveling Tool also brings Ratio, Attack and Release parameters to the party, as well as a Drive control for adjusting the amount of tube saturation applied, and a Dry/ Wet mix knob for parallel processing.

Looking and sounding like something that ought to cost more money, this is one not to be missed.
