More than a mere volume control, NoiseAsh Action Tremolo is a modulation station!
Tremolo may be one of the oldest musical effects, with the word tremolo – sometimes you’ll also find it referred to as tremolando – being found in many classical compositions, where it is used to describe the effect of rapidly repeating a single note.
More familiar to electric and electronic musicians will be the sort of tremolo found on guitar amplifiers. In this usage, tremolo describes the repetitive rise and fall of amplitude, and is created with the use of a low-frequency oscillator. It shouldn’t be confused with the effect of a whammy bar (which is sometimes referred to as a tremolo arm) which, in fact, produces vibrato, or a repetitive change in pitch.
Tremolo is, obviously, a very simple effect and as such, one would be hardpressed to work up any excitement over a free tremolo plugin. However, NoiseAsh’s Action Tremolo is anything but simple. Here, both volume and pan are subjects for modulation, with three different mod sources on offer, including the expected LFO (with three waveforms from which to choose), a custom shape envelope follower, and a keen 32-step sequencer. Tempo sync is offered, but it can spin freely, should you prefer.
A vintage analogue saturation unit is added to provide some retro vibe, and the whole thing is packed into a thoroughly modern interface. noiseash.com/action-tremolo
