> Step by step 3. Self-adjusting dynamic EQ with Soundtheory Gullfoss

-

1 Gullfoss’ interface has a minimum of controls. All the number crunching goes on in the background, so the user simply decides how much of each process to apply. Here, we’ve inserted it into our main stereo output; in its default state the curve is flat and no processing takes place. 2 Adjust the Recover and Tame controls to enhance and suppress whatever frequencies Gullfoss deems need shaping. As you do this, you’ll see the real-time curve moving; and you’ll hear first subtle then more marked changes as the engine attempts to improve the audio. 3 Bias fine-tunes the smart engine, deciding whether to enhance or reduce in either/or decisions. Brighten and Boost adjust overall frequency balance: Brighten influences the Recover/Tame engine; Boost is like a tilt EQ, applied outside of the main process.
