> Step by step 9. Using Neutron 2’s Track Assistant
1 Launch Track Assistant by clicking the button in the top bar. First, we’re going to process a bass synth sound, so select Bass in the Instrument menu. We want to bring it forward sonically with some force, so we select the Upfront Style and Medium Intensity. 2 Play some audio into the plugin and you’ll see in the task list that Neutron 2 is analysing the audio, selecting presets and fine-tuning parameters. Once done, it asks whether or not you want to accept the choices. Here, it’s applied the EQ, Exciter and Compressor 1 modules. 3 The results are moderately transformative, as requested, so let’s see what happens if we instead go for the High Intensity setting. Now, the same three modules are used but the EQ is more surgical, with a dip around 600Hz. The Compressor and Exciter values, however, are similar to Medium Intensity setting. 4 Track Assistant can also auto-detect the instrument type – great for less easily categorised sounds. Here, we have a percussive synth sequence. Selecting Auto-Detect with the Balanced Style at Medium Intensity creates a pretty good processing chain consisting of two Compressors, Exciter and EQ.
