> Step by step 11. Multitrack drums with Sound Radix Auto-Align

-

1 Auto-Align is incredibly straightforward to set up. Insert the plugin into both the track you want to align and the one to be used as the reference. Here we have a simple live drum kit recording, and we want to align the top and bottom snare tracks. 2 Using the snare top as the reference, in the corner of the plugin interface, select a send channel (any number up to 9), then open the Auto-Align plugin for the snare bottom and select a receive channel to match. Decide if you want to adjust time ( Delay) only, or time and Polarity. 3 Hit the Detect button on the target plugin and wait. After a few seconds, Auto-Align posts a time correction (31 samples in our case), and, if selected, inverts the phase. If we now bypass and compare the two outcomes, we hear that the aligned tracks have more punch. 4 Each Auto-Align plugin can send and receive sidechain signals, so we could align the snare top to the overheads, and still leave the snare bottom aligned to the snare top. With sidechains assigned, select Detect on both target plugins in the same order as the sidechain assignment.
