> Step by step 21. Addressing balance with Sonible Proximity+

1 Here we’re using Proximity+ to adjust the room mics from our drum kit. To affect the whole signal, simply adjust the global Proximity control at the bottom. Positive values increase the proximity dominance and negative values decrease it. The Strength control further emphasises the effect. Note how the white curve indicates the proximity settings. 2 Now let’s try adding in a band-specific setting. Selecting the ruler icon for a band puts it in proximity mode rather than regular EQ mode. The gain becomes a percentage and we can adjust the band either by dragging the node on the curve or by using the parameters at the top. 3 To zone in on the frequency this band is processing, select the solo ( S) option. Here we’re sweeping through the frequencie­s to find the right frequency for the body of the snare at about 200Hz. Finally, deactivate the solo, making further Proximity adjustment­s to taste.
