Demo week

“So, once in a while I schedule these sort of ‘demo weeks’,” explains Mason. “I do a demo an hour, maybe, and at the end of the day you have eight demos. They’re maybe 30-second loops, some things shorter, some longer. At the end of the week, I have maybe 50 ideas, and after two weeks I have 100 ideas, and then I look for the one that’s worth finishing.

“I was looking at it the other day and I think there are more than 7000 tracks over here. It becomes an issue with file names: there was a long time that I was doing cities in the world, and now I’ve named all the cities in the world that I knew of, so for the last few month’s I’m on kitchen objects. Slowly, I’ll go to bathroom objects – I’ll have a demo called ‘Toothpaste’.”
