The follow-up to Classic Deep House (9/10, cm258) once again avoids coming across as cheesy in its wholly successful evocation of 80s/90s East Coast club music. It also repeats the melodically-weighted instrumental distribution, with just 21 stemmed drum loops, but over 400 piano, organ, synth, pad, top and bass loops, and 377 one-shots. The beats swing, the basslines bounce, the keys uplift, and it’s testament to the creativity of the producers that they’ve managed to make such an ‘old’ genre sound so fresh.
