KUASSA AMPLIFIKATION 2 CM
How to use this month’s free guitar amp plugin
Kuassa laid down the gauntlet with 2013’s Amplifikation CM, delivering rich amp tones, flexible mic positioning and a choice of cabinet types. Since then, their processing engine has undergone a considerable overhaul, and this month sees a new version of this classic freebie: Amplifikation 2 CM. Alongside 64-bit support and up to 192kHz operation, this tasty effect now supports the gamut of plugin formats, and also comes in standalone form.
The amplifier section is a twin-channel design, providing everything from chiming rhythm tones to full-on overdriven sweetness. You also have a choice of three cabinet models sourced from Kuassa’s Amplifikation Vermilion Combo Amp. Furthermore, alongside mono and stereo cabinet routing, Amplifikation 2 CM can now operate in true stereo mode.
Amplifikation 2 CM delivers a rounder, richer tone than its predecessor, and although its layout is instantly familiar, the graphics have had a refresh, now suitably adorned with copies of your favourite music tech monthly.
In the following tutorial, we’ll run you through Amplifikation 2 CM’s features. Although the plugin specialises in guitar distortion, it can be used to drive, fatten and obliterate synths, vocals, drums and more.
Kuassa have an impressive selection of commercial amps, pedals and effects plugins, so head over to their website for more info.
