Ins & outs

OPENING DAWS As we type, Apple’s new Mac Pro isn’t out, but an Instagram video by Calvin Harris revealed that the Scottish super-producer has one already. The question is, though, did he have to pay for it? Even with prices starting at $6000, we reckon he could afford it.

BEHRINGER BUFFET It’s I been quite a few weeks for Behringer, Behrin with the 303-alike TD-3, Wing W digital mixer, Wasp Deluxe synth clone and Poly D – effectively a 4-voice Minimoog – all being announced. The company also had time to casually suggest that they may start making VST plugins.

BREAK-UP SONGS Known for streaming, Deezer have become a music splitting platform too. Their Splitter technology is used to ‘break apart’ stereo files so vocals, drums, bass etc can be accessed. It’s open-source too, so can be used by anyone, though there’s no graphical interface yet.

LAGER, LAGER, LOUDER

KEY ISSUES

With its ‘refined scissor mechanism’, the Magic Keyboard on Apple’s new 16-inch MacBook Pro feels much better than those on recent models. Pity all those who are left with the previous Butterfly keys, though: why did we have them in the first place?

TROUBLE IN PARADISE

Those awaiting Coldplay’s tour for new album Everyday Life will be disappointed with the news that they’ve put it on hold, while they work out a way of playing live that’s environmentally friendly. No Adventure Of A

Lifetime for a while, then…
