The Italian megalith ramps things up with a feast of new releases

-

IK Multimedia have had a busy few weeks, announcing a raft of new releases for computer-based musicians.

First up, T-RackS Space Delay – an emulation of the timeless Roland Space

Echo tape delay. Built on the same hybrid convolution and physical modelling technology as IK’s Tape Machine Collection (8/10, 276), this features the expected three playback heads, variable-speed motor and onboard spring reverb of the real thing. A number of completely new extensions have been thrown in too, including independent panning of each playback head and the spring, high- and low-pass filters, and the ability to duck the echo with the input signal. You can also dial in mechanical noise and tape degradation. Space Delay costs €100.

Next, a new addition to the iRig Keys 2 series of portable MIDI keyboards: the iRig Keys 2 Mini. A 25-mini-key ’board with a tiny footprint, this one is replete with four assignable control knobs, convenient audio interfacing, and compatibility with macOS, Windows, iOS and Android. €100.

Then there are a couple of goodies for guitarists. The Axe I/O Solo is a compact 2-in/3-out take on the regular Axe I/O USB audio interface, featuring the same Class A mic preamp and front-panel amplifier output for studio and stage integration; 24-bit/192kHz converters; and IK’s Z-Tone impedance-adapting circuit for flexible tone shaping. It ships with the AmpliTube 4

Deluxe amp sim software, a suite of T-RackS plugins and Ableton Live 10 Lite, and is available for €250.

Pyrotechnic rock fans will also want to check out AmpliTube Joe Satriani (Mac/PC/ iOS), which uses state-of-the-art Dynamic Interaction Modelling to emulate three of the living guitar god’s amps and five stompboxes, and includes a range of presets recreating specific sounds from throughout his recorded history. It’s €100.

Last but not least, IK’s stunning iLoud MTM studio monitors (10/10, 277) are now available in white at the same €700/ pair price as their established black counterpart. Fancy.
