3. More features in Amped Studio 2

-

1

One of the other neat features in Amped Studio 2 is the ability to chain instruments and effects together. Here we’ve layered two bass sounds together from the Granny and Volt instruments. 2

And instruments and effects can be chained together so here we’ve added a flanger and bit crusher to our previous bass combo to really dirt things up. 3

On the beats side of things you have all sorts of options like dragging in audio loops or using the Drumpler instrument. With Drumpler you can choose from various kits and sequence your own beats. You even get four extra kits as part of your three-month Premium subscription.

4

Hum and Beatz are two very interesting Amped Studio 2 features. They allow you to create MIDI notes from an audio recording so you could get both beats from a beatbox audio file or notes from a piece of singing. Here we have both beats and music as audio files. They have Drumpler and Volt instruments set up on each track.

5

Now right (Control) click on an audio region and choose Detect Hum or Detect Beatbox depending on what audio file type you are working on.

6

MIDI notes will be created. Here they are from the audio sung vocal and correspond to the correct sung notes but as they are MIDI notes they will trigger the Volt instrument you have on that track.

7

Do the same thing with the audio track playing the drum loop and it will detect different beats to be triggered via MIDI with Drumpler. Both the audio and MIDI notes will be heard but you can edit how they are mixed by double clicking the region and adjusting the volumes of note or audio using the Gain Slider.

8

To share your creations with the Amped Studio community you can use a variety of options in the main menu on the left. And do consider sending your efforts into our Reader Music section for possible inclusion in the magazine by way of computermusic@futurenet.com.
