Pulsar 1178

The 1178 is the less well-known and rarer sibling of the 1176 compressor, although it found some big-named fans like Chris LordAlge, Bob Clearmountain and Nigel Godrich – the Bee Gees of music production if you think about it (and have drunk as much as we have). Anyway, our favourite French compressor developers Pulsar have recreated it in exacting detail in the cleverlynamed Pulsar 1178, adding a sidechain EQ, saturation and some great-looking metering, all adding to a bright and lively character, ‘great for dealing with unruly transients’.
